We’ve all heard about automotive filters and the importance of changing them regularly, but many drivers aren’t sure which filters they need to change since there are so many inside the vehicle. Two very important filters are the cabin air filter and the engine air filter. While they’re both “air” filters, they are two very different filters, and each have their own role. You can check them both out at Acura of Laurel or allow our technicians to inspect them for you.
The cabin air filter, much like the filter in your furnace, traps dirt, dust and harmful pollutants from entering the vehicle. This filter keeps the air inside the vehicle as clean and clear as possible and should be changed at least every 30,000 miles. The engine air filter, which is located under the hood, traps dirt and debris from getting to the engine and causing damage. Changing this filter every 30,000 miles will not only improve gas mileage but also enhance the performance of your vehicle.
