Servicing your car can be a real headache, but it doesn't have to be. One thing that clients often stress about is whether they're being taken advantage of. At Acura of Laurel, we can't stand the thought of that. That's part of the reason we've compiled a shortlist of common motor oil myths.

Contrary to popular opinion, you don't necessarily need to change your oil every 3,000 miles. In fact, many models have a much higher mile ceiling to hit before a change is necessary. Check your owner's manual for an exact estimate. You don't need to change your oil because it's black. However, you should change your oil filter every time you get your oil changed. Black motor oil means your engine is working - not changing your oil filter could change that.

Hopefully, these tips will help save you from getting ripped off in the future. If you have questions or servicing needs, never hesitate to reach out to us at Acura of Laurel.
