In Acura's 35-year history, there has never been a quicker, more well-appointed sedan than the all-new 2021 Acura TLX. From top to bottom, this generation is truly an Acura performance sports sedan. There is an expectation for styling, performance, and technology for a vehicle to be a sports sedan, and the 2021 TLX will deliver when it arrives in dealerships this Fall. The 2021 Acura TLX Type S, set to arrive in Spring 2021, will debut an engine that was created by the top engineers with the NSX, Type R and Acura V6 programs. The 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine will be paired with a first-for-Type S Super Handling All-Wheel Drive and will establish the Type S as the premier high performance sports sedan.

The Type S will be the sportiest model of the TLX to date. The signature open-surface Diamond Pentagon grille is accented with larger side air intakes and aggressive front splitter. The signature styling continues with a rear decklid spoiler, quad exhaust outlets, and two trim-exclusive wheel designs, one of which comes straight from the NSX.

Torque Vectoring SH-AWD
Super Handling All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Type S, which is a first for the model. The latest generation of the SH-AWD system will have more torque for superior handling and improved contact when driving around corners.

Interior Technology and Color Options
All 2021 TLX models were designed with the driver in mind, and the Type S model will include features like the leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, metal-plated paddle shifters, and Type S badging on the door, steering wheel, and headrests. Nine exterior colors will be available, including all-new Phantom Violet Pearl, and the Type S exclusive Tiger Eye Pearl. Seven interior colors will be available, including Ebony or Red leather with Ultrasuede inserts for the A-Spec and Type S models. The Type S will also offer Light Orchid leather.

The standard 2.0-liter turbo engine makes 66 more horsepower and nearly 100 lbs.-ft. more torque than the outgoing model for a total of 272 horsepower and 280-lb.-ft. of torque. The engine will be mated with a responsive 10-speed automatic transmission wit Sequential SportShift and standard paddle shifters.  

To support the increased performance, the body is ultra-rigid with a double-wishbone front suspension for better handling. The portions and stance are changed to the following: wheelbase lengthened by four inches, dash to axle ration increased, hood expanded with shortened overhangs, width increased by three inches with exotic and lower stance.

NSX Electro-Servo Brakes
Straight from the second-generation NSX, the new brake system controls brake pressure and optimizes performance. The Type S will have hardware upgrades to improve braking ability and four-piston Brembo front calipers

Personalized Driving Experience
The Acura Integrated Dynamic System, which is displayed on a dial on the center console,  provides on-demand adjustments for a personal driving experience. The system uses multiple powertrain, chassis, transmission and available SH-AWD systems to incrementally dial up on the performance and sporting abilities of the TLX. The settings include Comfort, Normal, Sport, Sport+ (Type S only), and Individual.
