No one wants to deal with a dead car battery, but knowing how to use a car charger to recharge the battery can spare you a serious headache. Keep in mind that if it takes too long to recharge the battery, then you are more likely to have an issue with your battery that requires replacement.

After locating the car battery, find the positive and negative terminal ends. Attach the red clamps from the cord with the charger to the positive terminal end. The safest option is to leave the black charger clamps unattached to the negative end. Read the car manual and charger instructions to determine which speed and voltage you should choose. Next, turn on the car charger to start recharging the battery.

You can turn off the charger once your car is able to turn on. Remove the clamps after you have turned off the car charger.
